interpreting primary sources
Students should be exposed to primary sources.
Students should be able to identify viewpoints, beliefs, and arguments.
Students should be able to identify perspectives and biases from various authors
Students should be able to propose what perspectives are missing from an account.
Comparing secondary sources
Students should be able to identify the arguments being made by a secondary source.
Students should be able to consider the lenses and biases of a secondary source.
Students should be able to compare secondary sources to each other.
Students should be able to question the interpretations of secondary sources through primary sources.
Questioning narratives
Students should be given narratives and encouraged to question them
Students should consider a narrative and question their internal logic
Students should examine primary sources and determine whether the sources support or discredit the narrative
Students should write a response defending or opposing the narrative proposed
